Update #4: Concert Band Repertoire

Hello Pride Bands Alliance!

Can you believe that the conference is only 6 months away?!

The Columbus Conference team is hard at work making sure everything will be in place by the time all of you arrive in July. We have a LOT of big announcements this month, and even more big announcements planned for February.

But before we get into that, let’s first do the numbers!

Current Registration Numbers

Atlanta Freedom Band maintains its lead with 26 registrations, but Cleveland Pride Band is close behind with 21!

Triangle Pride Band is within striking distance of 20 registrations and a $100 Gift Card to Stanton’s Sheet Music!

The Scioto River Band

The Scioto River Band will be playing the 2nd movement of our commission piece written by Viet Cuong.

The names of our two bands, The Scioto and The Olentangy, come from the two rivers whose confluence, less than a mile from our concert venue, forms the heart of downtown Columbus.

Listening links for these pieces will be added to our conference website and sent out in the February 1st conference update. The scheduled date for music distribution is Wednesday, May 1, 2024.

The application for Guest Concert Band Artistic Directors has closed.

Thank you so much to those who applied! We received 18 applications for Guest ADs.

Our Artistic Team has already begun reviewing the applications with the plans to reach out to selected candidates toward the end of January.

We plan to announce the selections for Guest ADs in the February 1st update.

Big Band Auditions still open!

Auditions for the Big Band are open until April 1, 2024.

Our Big Band Artistic Team has begun work on music selection, and we hope to announce our big band tunes on Friday, March 1, 2024.

Those interested in auditioning will need to prepare a recording of themselves performing a jazz standard of their choice. Click here for the link to the audition form.

The Big Band performance is scheduled for

Friday, July 19th from 7:30 pm to 9:00 pm

in the Ballroom of the Downtown Renaissance Hotel by Marriott in Downtown Columbus.

We are programming two 30-minute sets of Big Band and Swing music with a 30-minute break between sets. Those participating in the Big Band are expected to have prepared all music prior to our first rehearsal in Columbus. 

Big Band rehearsals are scheduled:

Wednesday, July 17th – 3:00 pm to 4:30 pm

Thursday, July 18th, 5:00 pm to 6:00 pm

Friday, July 19th, 9:00 am to 10:00 am

Chamber Recital sign ups are still open

Applications for the Chamber Recital will be open until May 15th, 2024. 

We currently have 8 ensembles signed up, and several others have expressed interest in signing up! More info on the confirmed ensembles and opportunities to join them will be going out in the February 1st update.

The Chamber Recital is scheduled for:

Thursday, July 18th from 6:30 pm to 8:00 pm

in the historic Ohio Statehouse with performance spaces set up in the Statehouse Atrium and Rotunda. Each selected ensemble will be given a 15-minute time slot for their performance which will include set up and strike between sets.

Only one member from each ensemble is required to complete this form; the person completing this form will act as a representative for the ensemble to the Columbus Conference Team.

No official rehearsal times are placed on the conference schedule, however, limited rehearsal spaces will be made available at our host hotel on

Wednesday, July 17th and Thursday, July 18th.

Sign ups for these spaces will go out on June 1st.

We encourage all chamber groups to have their music as prepared as possible prior to the conference.
