Update #2 – Big Band, Chamber Recital and Guest AD Applications Now Open!

The Columbus conference team is working hard to create a conference that will be unforgettable! This month’s email update includes audition forms for our Big Band and applications for our Chamber Recital!

Guest Artistic Directors Application
Anyone interested in submitting an application should prepare a 3-5 minute video demonstrating their conducting prowess and rehearsal technique.
Applications are due by December 31, 2023.
Selection announcements are scheduled for early Winter 2024.
Current Registration Numbers
Below are the current registrations across all Pride Band Alliance member bands. We still don’t have a band that’s hit that shiny 20 members yet (except for Columbus!), but we are getting close!
The Atlanta Freedom Bands increases their lead to 18 registrations followed very, very closely by the Cleveland Pride Band with 17! Triangle Pride Band drops to third place with an impressive 14 registrations, knocking Lakeside Pride out of the top three?
Who will be the first band to get to 20 registrations? Hopefully the answer to that will be shared in next month’s update!
Big Band Audition Form
Auditions for the 2024 Conference Big Band are now open! Below is a link to the application:
Big Band Auditions
Auditions for the Big Band are open until April 1, 2024.
Those interested in auditioning will need to prepare a recording of themselves performing a jazz standard of their choice.
The Big Band performance is scheduled for
Friday, July 19th from 7:30 pm to 9:00 pm
in the Ballroom of the Downtown Renaissance Hotel by Marriott in Downtown Columbus. We are programming two 30-minute sets of Big Band and Swing music with a 30-minute break between sets. Those participating in the Big Band are expected to have prepared all music prior to our first rehearsal in Columbus.
Big Band rehearsals are scheduled:
Wednesday, July 17th – 3:00 pm to 4:30 pm
Thursday, July 18th, 5:00 pm to 6:00 pm
Friday, July 19th, 9:00 am to 10:00 am
Chamber Recital Interest Form
Interest Forms for the 2024 Conference Chamber Recital are also now open! Below is a link to the form:
Chamber Recital
Applications for the Chamber Recital will be open until May 15th, 2024.
Due to limitations in performance space and time on the schedule, we may not be able to accommodate all requests.
The Chamber Recital is scheduled for
Thursday, July 18th from 6:30 pm to 8:00 pm
in the historic Ohio Statehouse with performance spaces set up the Statehouse Atrium and Rotunda. Each selected ensemble will be given a 15-minute time slot for their performance which will include set up and strike between sets. Only one member from each ensemble is required to complete this form; the person completing this form will act as a representative for the ensemble to the Columbus Conference Team.
No official rehearsal times are placed on the conference schedule, however, limited rehearsal spaces will be made available at our host hotel on
Wednesday, July 17th and Thursday, July 18th
on a first come basis. Sign ups for these spaces will go out on June 1st.
We encourage all chamber groups to have their music as prepared as possible prior to the conference.
